* Meet one of Upstate New York’s local Test Men, Jack Brandes

Verizon Wireless is investing in Ulster County and expanding its local coverage with a new cell site in Esopus. The new site improves coverage and capacity along Route 9W from the Village of Ulster Park to the Village of West Park, as well as Route 9 in Dutchess County from the Village of Staatsburg to the Village of Hyde Park. The new site also covers Old Post Road and County Route 213 in the Village of Rifton.

This network expansion is part of the company’s aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment each year to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless’ voice and data services. The company has invested more than $45 billion nationwide since it was formed – $5.5 billion on average every year – and plans to invest more than $100 million in Upstate New York in 2009.

“We’ve always believed even the most advanced device is only as good as the network it runs on. We continue to aggressively invest in our Upstate New York network to increase coverage and capacity for our customers, add new services, and maintain our 3G network leadership” said Gene Fassett, executive director of Network for Verizon Wireless’ Upstate New York Region.

Services include wireless data services such as picture messaging, text messaging, V CAST and V CAST Music with Rhapsody, and Mobile Broadband, the company’s high-speed wireless broadband network geared toward mobile professionals and business customers. It provides average download speeds of 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits per second, and average upload speeds of 500-800 kbps.

CAPE MAY COURTHOUSE, NJ —

* Improves coverage and capacity along Garden State Parkway, Route 9 & Stone Harbor Blvd.
* Provides access to high-speed wireless broadband service
* Part of $100+ million network investment in Philadelphia Tri-State Region in 2009

Wireless calling, text messaging and surfing the Mobile Web on the Verizon Wireless high-speed 3G network will be easier and faster for Cape May County residents and visitors this fall, thanks to the activation of a new cell site in Cape May Courthouse.

The new site increases coverage and capacity north on Garden State Parkway to Crest Haven Road, south on Route 9 to Lee Lane, east on Stone Harbor Boulevard and west on Hand Avenue to Westwood Drive.

With the improved network coverage, customers can use their wireless devices to send and receive e-mail and text, picture and video messages; view high-quality videos; and access VZ Navigator(SM)’s turn-by-turn directions, while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls. The Verizon Wireless network also is built for reliability during emergencies, such as power outages and extreme weather conditions, with redundancy capabilities in place to maintain service for customers when they need it the most.

These network enhancements are part of Verizon Wireless’ aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment each year to stay ahead of the growing demand for the company’s voice and data services. Verizon Wireless spent more than $145 million to enhance services and coverage across central, northeastern and southeastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware so far in 2009, bringing the network investment in the region to more than $1.3 billion since 2001.

Verizon Wireless has the largest and most reliable 3G network coverage area in the United States. Its 3G data network provides its customers in more locations than any other wireless carrier the ability to browse the Web faster with quicker page loading times, quickly download and play music, watch streaming video, send e-mails with attachments, download and play 3D games, video conference with contacts and rapidly share files.
